Book Drive

Nurturing Spring Buds successfully finished its first book drive at the end of  2022. We collected over 500 K-6 books from neighborhoods and local libraries over 5 weeks. In 2023, we launched the 2nd book drive during Christmas holiday season, and collected over 600 K-6 books from neighborhoods and classmates over 4 weeks.

To launch the book drive, we designed flyers and put them up in our neighborhoods and on community social media. We also contacted local libraries. We collected many books from people's homes and libraries. We brought all the collected books to Access Books Bay Area (ABBA), an organization that helps build libraries in low-income schools. Alison Guan, a representative of ABBA, met us; we worked together to sort the books we collected by grade and quality.

These books will be sent to underfunded schools all around the Bay Area, many of them in San Jose. People living below the poverty line and unable to worry about books will be able to have access to them.

The book drive was a great experience. NSB acted as a bridge to connect people together. We helped the community remove boxes of outdated books from their homes, and these books became valuable treasures in the hands of kids in need.

We plan to conduct the Book Drive every year.
